Mentoring program

The purpose of the Broward County Homeschool Parent Support Group (the PSG) is to encourage our membership of several hundred families to grow and thrive in their respective homeschool environments. We help facilitate our members success by providing information and support services while upholding the philosophies of the PSG (which are founded upon traditional Biblical Judeo-Christian values as defined by the Old and New Testaments of the Holy Scriptures).
HISTORY of the PSG
Formed in 1983, our group originally met at the First Baptist Church of Ft. Lauderdale. We grew as more families took advantage of new Florida State legislation, which helped to create a more improved atmosphere towards homeschooling here in the Sunshine State. Our first newsletter was a one-page update on the activities within the group.
As our group membership began to encompass all of Broward County and its newsletter grew into its present multi-page monthly publication, we changed our name to the Broward County Parent Support Group (aka - the PSG).
Due to our increased membership and the ever-expanding activities/functions of the PSG, a Board of Directors was appointed by the original founders of our group to facilitate smoother operation. The Board of Directors handles the PSG's necessary business concerns and obligations to the community and its members. Our monthly meetings are totally free for educational and family support.
In January of 1996, the PSG was incorporated as the Broward County Homeschool Parent Support Group, Inc. Our organization has continued to support its members and the community while maintaining membership with the Florida Parent Educators Association (the FPEA) throughout our history. Additionally, we have always been recognized by the Broward County School Board.
