Is this for me? We're often asked if you can homeschool in a family where both parents work (or single moms). The ideal situation of course is to have one parent actively teaching. However, if it's just not a possibility for you and you want your child at home, then Internet and computer/based homeschool courses may be the answer for you. You can either choose to do an entire online/computer-based curriculum, or just a couple of courses. One word of warning--find some way to ensure that your child is not glued to a computer screen all day! Kids need breaks and need to get outside. Also, a word of warning about Internet safety. Use safety filters and check the history of what sites your kids have been on! Keep your computers in a central room so that you can see what they're doing at any time (the police and FBI recommend that children should not have Internet-connected computers in their bedrooms!) |
